Immobilizer trouble C70 2000

Post by DutchvolvoC70 »

I’ve got troubles with my C70 model 2000.
It wil start one time a day with no problems.
But when i put the engine off and try to restart it it won’t get on anymore. Vida tells me that the antenna ring is not connected. But that is already a brand new one. I already put some spray on the connectors but it don’t seem to solve the problem. I’ve also tried both keys. And the 5 times lock and close process. If I try it next day he just start normal. Am or pm does not have any influence. Relais 113 is good. So is the ETM. Does anyone know how the immobilizers electric circuit works? I know you can’t write it out of the ECU. Is there a possibility that if I change the ECU and immobilizer with keys from a other (same ECU) wreck vehicle? Or can there be a bad connection in the connectors or wire’s?

Do you have 2 keys? There is a chip in the key that may have issue. Try the 2nd key and see if both do it. We had an issue with our P2 model Volvo and it is a known issue with those. We had intermittent issue.

You have clear indication of antenna ring being not connected. You need go to immobilizer as there is other end of the connection. There can be bad connection anywhere between this coil antenna and receiver or even on the immobilizer having bad solder connection to this antenna connector.

Cable too between those two.

You may can replace immo but your model age is on edge having cem which then would require some programming hacking around. Tools. Etc.

I believe on a 1999 and 2000 you will need a key, ECU, lock module , and Immobiliser module from a single car to make the swap

There isnt a programmable CEM on the 1999 2000 models - that came in with the P2 chassis. Some one here documented the 1999 2000 chassis swap here in the last few years.
