Headunit Display Showing Gibberish

Post by volvodriver1 »

Hello Fam

I have a HU-803 and lately it has been showing gibberish on the display. At first it would come and go but it would correct itself. When it wouldn't correct itself I could run my finger across the screen with light pressure and it would display correctly again. I did this for a few months. Now it won't display right no matter how hard I press.

I believe the issue is a faulty or corroded contacts or ribbon cables for the screen. This is why the screen would work after running my finger over the points where the display and the connectors meet.

Has anyone had or heard of a similar situation?
Is there an easy fix? Im handy with a soldering iron and even a hot air gun but I don't think these headunits are DIY friendly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
