07 S40 Sway End: Lemforder vs Meyle

Post by theWIFES_S70 »

Lemforders are thinner. But they have flats (17mm) behind the rubber boot.

Meyles are really beefy and feel a lot more solid. But... no flats behind the boot. You HAVE to use your hex. I couldn't find a way to get it done so I figured this out.

Lemforders lasted two years? Roads in NYC are absolutely atrocious right now... Hopefully the Meyles last longer!

Well, yeah. I agree with you. The struts are pretty close to the frame so these Meyle's require a little bit of fanagling because they're so chunky. Will definitely go with Lemforders next time. Here in NYC these last a year, two tops.

Do you mean bad roads or salt. One or two years makes it seem like bad quality parts. I hope you are using FCP parts regardless if the links have become consumables.

An L-Shape Allen wedged against any LCA would work also. Sometimes the boot has to be pushed way back in order to get the open end wrench on and that could pinch and break the boot. From the pic I would choose Meyles.

Roads here have been absolutely atrocious for the past few years. And my wife insists on driving over potholes! What you gonna do?

I buy almost exclusively from FCP!!

We look at the fine details of the road and they just look ahead. They don't have to do the repairs, no skin the game or off the knuckle. What you gonna do? Best nothing!
