Parking sensors — needs head unit?

Post by leapdragon »

Hi all,

So I have a parking sensor message and probably need to replace them—BUT I have replaced my HU-650 with an aftermarket head unit. Somehow I have it in my head that these rely on the head unit to work.

True or am I misremembering?

More to the point, I have installed a backup camera and don't necessarily need them. Is there a way to disable the message / system entirely?

You can pull fuse 26, that circuit is only for park assist.

I don't think the head unit relates to park assist.
