Volvo v70 t5 -01 mkII fuel economy high rise

Post by Rokuli »

Hello!
I have this problem with my volvo that everything seems fine rpm stays in 900rpm and no fault light in the dash but my fuel economy is something like 20l/100km and cant find the reason why. I have replaced spark plugs with Bosch SuperPlus FR7DPP+ "+24", air filtter, timing belt with water pump, oils, couple of vacuum hoses ( hose coming from the top of the manifold was broken) , camshaft sealants and gas filter but nothing seems to be doing nothing. Idle seems a little ruff but very smooth ( sorry my english at this point native finnish 😁✌️) some error codes it gave when i tried reading them you can see them in attavhments.

Oh and forgot to mention that emission measurement ( if thats rhe right word 😅 ) was ok and i can provide picture from them. Attavhment again ->
And one other strange thing intant consumption always shows 99.9l when i stop anywhere like lights or in intersection but my other volvo s60 2004 2.5l turbo is showing it once when i start the car and start moving but not in the lights or intersections ( it shows something like 30-40l when i start to move ) and im using 98 octane gas ( 98E10 )

Check if timing is maybe 1 or 2 teeth off since timing belt was replaced recently.

Other than that....spark plug gap on Turbo engines is critical...it must be 0.7mm.

Re-check gap on those new plugs...they are always at around 1mm from the box.

Volvo plugs (set of five for turbo engines)are the best way to go...or cheap copper plugs like NGK or Bosch properly gapped.

About idling....what you mean by little rough but very smooth?
If it's rough it is rough....if it is smooth it is smooth.

If it's driven mostly in city stop & go traffic and if it's automatic....it can go up to 17-20l/100km easily.

Been a little busy with the work last week but checked everything and actually everything was fine spark plugs were okay but there was misfires in cylinder 3. I replaced the coil and no fault codes anymore ( with vida ) and the fuel usage went back to normal but now after a couple of days and 2 harder acceleration it did this

Rpm goes like crazy from 500-1000, gas smell to car, engine vibrates, it smokes and gasoline meter drip almost down on behalf of

Poor a bottle of Koskenkorva in the tank. It'll breath new life into your engine.

Blue smoke means the engine is burning oil.
Now....misfiring and blue smoke along with rough running indicates a burnt valve or dead cylinder.

Compression check should be added to the list.

The smoke is white and the coolant liquid was almost gone from the container. Probably the head gasket this time 🤔 and the coolants were just changed and added
