05 XC70 Fuel filter quick connects

Post by Faust »

Over the weekend I hit a stump, or other undergrowth, which ripped my fuel filter off. Included in the loss are the quick connect fittings for the fuel inlet and outlet lines. I assume I can buy new ones, but how would they connect to the old lines?

The line is heated then the QC fitting is inserted. Not very wise to do with the fuel/vapors present in the line.

I would cut a piece of the line, heat/insert the fitting, use a piece of rubber fuel line over the plastic line ends (squeeze them together inside the rubber line) and a pair of Oetiker clamps.

Alternatively, remove the fuel ramp, blow some compressed air through the fuel line to get rid of vapors and heat/insert the new fitting.

maybe heat a steel punch , not red hot, push it into the hose, let it soften the hose, remove, then insert the fitting and clamp.
