Still won't start, stumped

Post by Vince3031 »

I have a 1998 S70 glt 2.4 turbo that seems to have a whole family of Gremlins, short summary. So someone try to steal it and I have been driving it just using the electrical side of the switch. Was driving fine and one night it started missing here and there, made it home and when I tried to start it the next morning it only ran for a few seconds. I've changed the ignition switch electrical side. Ive also changed the rotor, distributor cap, plugs, throttle position sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator (aftermarket bypass style) still won't start without starting spray, it will run when you spray it. So I don't think really an electrical issue and it's getting compression it's getting fuel to the real I'm not sure of the pressure I don't have a gauge. I don't know what else to do so any help would be really appreciated. oh yeah MAF sensor had went bad but car was running without it hooked up.

I think the fuel pressure is bleeding off as the car sits. It need to build pressure up before it can get fuel to the cylinders.
Judging from what you have replaced. My #1 suspect is a leaking injector. Leaking injector is bleeding off the Fuel Rail pressure. Fuel evaporates in the cylinder. When you go to start it in the morning there no pressure in the fuel rail.

Try this: turn the key on but do not crank. Wait 10 - 20 seconds. Then crank. Did it start?

Why waiting for 10-20sec?
Fuel pump runs only for 1-2 seconds to prime the fuel system when key is turned to pos.II.

Morning sorry the delay on the update, on am area with no /spotty at best coverage. Anyway did what was suggested and still no start and now the problem seems to have gotten worse. By that I mean now it's just a dribble coming out of the shrader valve on the rail and this is with the new pump. Heading out to start from the rear of the car and work forward rechecking pump connection, filter and fuel pressure since those were replaced
