Xc90 T8 2017 check engine light / sound in rear

Just bought a 2017 xc90 t8. Only had for 2 weeks. 89k miles and having random thud sound in rear that I can feel up front. Initially thought it was related to air suspension or emergency brake as it only happens while braking but now my CEL light is on with code P286D. Any ideas? I do have a 3k 3 month powertrain warranty from dealer with vehicle and only thing code reader tells me is p286d is powertrain related but no further info.

In the standard code format P28 would be transmission, 6D would be the specific fault.

I’m having the same exact problem with my 2016 XC90 T8. Have you figured anything out?

As it turns out the entire rear differential needed to be replaced. It was a two piece electronic rear differential. $4200 + 20 hrs labor. Covered 100% under my little 3k mile warranty but car was out of service for 2 months. Back now. So far so good

Ok this is a tough one to diagnose and fix
2017 Volvo XC90 T8 inscription
Car hesitates on accelerating and acts as if it’s not getting good TPC or acceleration signal from computer.
Dealer said no fault codes due to outdated modem and charged 2000.00 dollars to replace with 5G modem.
Still no codes.. they spoke to Volvo Corp and Volvo “ dialed in”. No codes Volvo said it’s a pre-heater or similar, dealer disagreed and said it was rear differential.
No noise, no leaks observed on rear differential.
Wants 8000.00 to replace rear differential.
I said I want the old differential to diagnose problem and now they claim it’s a 500.00 core charge on differential.

Anyone know if that’s accurate? Anyone know if this is even possible problem?
Sounds off to me.
