2003 V 40 oil leak

I have a 2003 V 40 turbo wagon with 136K well maintained miles. Recently an elusive oil leak has shown up on the engine side facing the firewall and dripping off of the pan around the center of the car. Under the car it seems to be coming from up top (not the pan gasket) but close inspection from the topside with a flashlight into the cracks and crevices shows everything is dry, On the last service the mechanic overfilled by 2 quarts of oil and i ran the car about 400 miles before checking the dipstick, at which point I took the 2 quarts out. Not sure if this has anything to do or not.
Any ideas?
