This is the only code my car has and my CEL is on. Has anyone encountered this one? It seems the ambient air temp sensors (2)
live in the side view mirrors. They're pretty cheap at $18 each for Volvo OEM ones. Is there any way to check them or the circuit or should I just order a couple and change them?

I guess it depends on whether you want to spend $40 whether you need to or not. You have to do a little research as to how one gets to the sensor. If it involves a good deal of work then personally, I would buy two new sensors. Approach the problem once. But you may find the harness or sensor has some corrosion and that cleaning the contacts solves the problem - you lost your $40. Being in the mirrors it is apparent that water can and does get in there over the 20 or so years your car has been driven.
My research shows that the sensors will throw the CEL - which makes sense as the computer may look at this data when it sets fuel parameters. I don't know this, but the CEL light would point that it does. In the Volvos (and other cars) I have worked on the sensor for ambient air is usually near the radiator, but things change as cars get smarter.
