Collar sleeve damage
Looking for a quick opinion. While have a tough time removing the collar sleeve, it was slightly damaged in the process from the grips when pulling it out. Is this damage too significant to try and reinstall and use?

It won’t hurt anything, just make sure it slides on and off the bevel gear splines. If it binds, file the collar sleeve splines with a small triangular profile file so it slides on easy, also check the outside machined surface of the colllar and make sure you didn’t scratch it where the seal rides.

My opinion: Clean up the slight damage with a small file. Assure the parts slide together OK. There is not enough damage here to worry about.

Thank you both for the replies. I was thinking the same thing but wanted another opinion. The file idea was already floating around in my head. Thanks again!!

Clean it up and use. Smart for checking. Many brains on a problem is good.
