need help on right side mirror swap wiring from a s40 2008 to a 2005

Post by alphonso61 »

hi looking to swap my old and broken side mirrors on my 2005 volvo s40 2.4 to the 2008 mirrors
i would need the right side wiring and the left as for the left (driver)i tried something in a thread and it works

really need the passenger side as i noticed that 2005 connector has 7 wires on a 14 pin connector
and the 2008 mirror has 8 wires on a 14 pin connector and the colors on the wires are not all the same

thks

I don't think the wiring is compatible. I checked the PN and the mirrors '08 mirrors fit on '07-'11 models. Vs '05s fit on '04-'06. You could always just plug them in (before fully installing) to see if the blinkers and mirror motor work. If it doesn't work, you'd need to trace function (load or signal, plus grounds) on both the mirror and the wiring coming out of the car. Colors are different, but most of the functions are the same on both mirrors: puddle lamp, turn signal, motor (some are heated, maybe that's why the '08s have another wire?).
