Plan A failed.I tried to repair my firewall blanket for my 2001 RHD xc70 but its harder than i thought and the repair looks terrible.

Plan B. buy new item 30744613 from volvo but to my suprise and the dealer its no longer available. parts for 2007 RHD vehicle should expire in 2037? ..not a popular item the dealer says

Plan C buy from internet, some sellers from eastern europe claim to have this item but reading feedback it appears likely they dont actually have item. these countries are all left hand drive so its highly unlikely its legit.

Plan D buy locally from junk yard, rang a few all say no, one said yes from a 2005 vehicle so hoping its in good condition, delivery here has always been terrible but because of covid its become really bad and i cannot travel to the junkyards who dont deliver. My local volvo dealer use a reliable service that usually deliver in a few days however these junkyards use cheap couriers who are known to be very un reliable...sigh

According to Volvo Parts Webstore the same blanket was used on S60, S80, V70, XC70 so if you’re searching wrecking yards it might open up some possibilities for you.

Can you get the left hand drive part still? If so, could it be applied back wards for the same insulation effect? My 2001 V70 has an aluminum sheeting on the engine side. If your does also, reversing would not work. This assumes LH and RH are nearly mirror image of each other.

no the insulation cannot be reversed, ive got a fairly good condition one and installed it.

Volvo should have stuck the aluminium sheeting to the whole mat especially close to the turbo not just the small piece at the bottom.

talking about heat-shields, anyone know the part number for this brake booster heat shield?
