Hi everyone,

This morning when i started to drive on highway, i realized my car couldn't pass 3500 rpm, and turbo was not kicking in at all.
5 miles later took the exit and was soon as speed dropped around 30 miles, my car stopped.
Tried to run it multiple times however it didn't start.
Pushed somewhere safe and tried again it started a couple of times but died on a second or two. During those moments it wasn't responding to gas pedal.
I checked fuses located in engine compartment on the spot, they seemed fine.
I pulled maf sensor s plug and tried no difference...
Pushed to the closest parking lot and left it there.

Any ideas? Recommendations?
Thanks

Check your fuel relay and fuel pump are working. Look on here for a paper-clip jumper to test for the fuel pump relay failed. This may allow you to get the car home but do not do this long term.

If the jumper makes no difference, check the fuel pump is working. If you open the fuel filler and get someone to turn the key to POSII (I.E. don't start) put your ear close to the filler and see if you can hear the pump buzz as it primes.

Then you get into the other stuff like electrical, distributor, and as it is a turbo air leaks in any pipes including the intercooler pipes.

Check the all the air hoses for leaks. Unmetered air which results in a lean Air/Fuel mixture will do that.

Thank you Neil.
It turned out as the fuel pump.
With a help of friend of mine, when i was cranking, he hit the top of fuel pump, after a couple of tries it started work.
I did bring the car to my place, now going to order a new part and replace the pump. Even though it's working fine now, probably it wouldn't be safe to trust existing pump which is the original one from 98 and my Volvo has 235K miles.

Thanks
Ray

He is called the 'Fonz'! That is an old trick I was taught decades ago with old electric fuel pumps as well as starter motors to jolt them into actions. Glad you got to the problem and good luck with the fix!

That's the first aid when it fails.
Sometimes it do the trick...sometimes not.

However....the trick can be used only once.

Time for fuel pump replacement.

There are usually 2 contacts on the electric motor and when they contacts get worn, they can get stuck or stop between sections on the rotor. Tapping it can jog the motor enough to make the contacts spark and jump it into life again. Like misha says, it is giving you due warning of permanent failure!
