PTC nipple interchangeability question
Does anyone know if PTC number 9445831 can be substituted in place of number 1275996? The only difference that I can see is the small hose nipple which is on the other side of the body from the electrical connector. Does anybody know if there are other differences which I'm not noticing? Are the grommets that these parts use to plug into the intake tube the same? If I can't substitute the part itself I can at least use the grommet if it is the same.

The PTC is just a hole in a heated copper plate so if you can make it fit, it will work. People have even changed the hole size, or removed the copper plate entirely, without ill effects. As long as everything seals out vacuum leaks and flow is not restricted it will work.
The grommet sizes should be all the same for P80 cars.

Yea that hole is basically regulating vacuum pressure. Some of us have removed the plate to increased vacuum to compensate for increased blow by pressure. I removed my PTC flow restricting plate and swapped the hose for a 5/8 ID hose and I'm no longer seeing failed glove tests.m or smoke from the dipstick.
