Hello all,
I have a 2000 V70 manual transmission n/a. My problem is that when I engage the clutch and attempt to start the car I often get nothing but a click. It will start, but sometimes it takes several attempts. I just replaced the starter, that made no difference. The battery is charged. When I turn the key it seems as if the car is not recognizing that the clutch is engaged. Any thoughts on what can cause this condition are appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have to depress the clutch to start the engine on a 2000 manual? I have not had a manual in over 20 years and that was a 98. Did not have to do that to start it.
It could be several things. Abscate I think had a check list for this. It can start with the antenna ring not recognizing the chip key, electrical portion of the ignition lock not working, to many other issues.
Neil.

The 1999 and 2000 p80s have clutch interlocked cranking through the ECU
If the clutch switch is giving up, they will cause inhibited cranking. You can confirm by using the starter relay bypass connector under the hood

Thanks abscate! It appears that the clutch pedal position sensor became dislodged. I snapped it back into position and she started right up.
