2008 Volvo S60 possible oil leak from turbo

Post by Rikonasty »

I have a 2008 Volvo S60 that I can’t seem to find where the oil leak is coming from. Looking under my car it look like it’s possibly coming from turbo ? But I can’t tell. I want going to replace return line seals but it doesn’t seem like the oil is coming from there either.
I did perform a quick glove test to check my pcv system and it failed.

My questions are if someone can help me identify the leak. Do I have to replace my turbo entirely ?
Should I start with the return line seal anyway. Or just start with the pcv system replacement ?

don't disturb the turbo downpipe, its not leaking.
Theres probably some blow by from the cross engine pipe to turbo flex coupler.
The source of the problem is probably crankcase pressure, so doing the PCV is important before seals start popping out.
You can leave the dipstick loose to lesson crankcase pressure for now.

you have multiple leaks. As with any leak clean it. you cannot tell where its coming from when fluids are everywhere

My 2007 S60 2.5T with 115K is slightly wet at the bottom of the turbo.
Not as bad as in the original photo by the O.P.

Can someone tell me when it will get bad and needs replaced?
Such as time/mileage when it gets bad.
Right now, at 115K, I am just watching it.

In the video by FCPEuro, not sure why he drained coolant.
I thought you can get away w/o draining coolant?
