Turn Signal Stalk Buttons Do Not Work?

Hey all! I just bought my first Volvo, a 2008 XC70. A bit on the higher mileage side, so I was leery about it, but it seems to have been pretty well cared for. It has a few things I need to fix and one of them is that the buttons on the turn signal stalk do not seem to do anything. The message center on the dash tells me the parking sense system has a problem (I'll dive into repairing that eventually), but I cannot clear it using the "Read" button. The other two buttons also do nothing and neither does the selector wheel. So, I cannot clear the message or see any of the other features the car could be telling me about. Any idea what the issue could be or is the stalk just bad and needs to be replaced? The turn signals themselves still work fine and so so the high beams. Looking forward to diving into this!
