J2534 interface for 2003 XC90?

Hi,

First post, joined as you seem to have a lot of great knowledge on VIDA and Volvos in general.

I am buying a 2003 XC90 and would like to get a VIDA setup for diagnostic and coding etc.

I've been reading about the different interfaces and obviously I would like to get the cheapest option that works.

The J2534 interfaces, such as the Mongoose JLR clone, are about £30. But in the resources I've seen it says they will only work for 2004 and up model year.

Can anyone tell me if the J2534 interfaces will work on a 2003 XC90? Happy to spend a little more for a "proper" VIDA clone but only if really necessary.
