No cabin heat - 2008 XC70

Post by MDK »

Hey all.. MDK here So, about a month ago I bought a 2008 XC70. This past Monday I tried the heat and there isn't any. No codes, the system comes on fan works but just blows cold air. What should I be looking for?

With the hood open and engine warmed up, locate the 2 water hoses that go through the firewall to supply hot coolant to the cabin heater. If water is flowing, the hoses should be hot. If they are only luke warm, that implies that a flow valve is stuck shut.

If they are hot, then that implies that there isn't air circulating through the heater core, which means a baffle (airflow valve) is stuck closed.

Pin it down to one of these 2 blockages as the 1st step.

The mechanic said that the heater core was plugged. He flushed it but may need a new one. I have some heat..
