Power tailgate opens all the way but bounces back 6 inches.

Hi Chaps,

New member here with a slight problem with my 2013 V70. I've searched every single internet resource I can find and haven't found reference to this issue.

With my powered tailgate I am well aware of how to set the opening height but my bootlid opens to the maximum height but then it returns a few inches. So I keep banging my head on it!

I can manually lift it to its maximum height and it will stay there. But no matter how many times I try to programme to maximum height it just opens all the way then bounces back the same distance. The way it dips down looks (and sounds) controlled and 'intended', not like it's just a springy bounce.

I can set it it to open to any lower height but I just can't get it to open quite far enough to avoid the head-banging (I'm not tall - 5'9")!

Does anyone have any idea what's going on and, ideally, how to fix it?

I have the same issue with my 2011 xc70. The issue is with the gas struts. Thanks for the reminder.
