Front passenger seat swap

Post by abcdetech »

2006 XC70 w leather power seats.
Seats cracked, burnt spots, something is going on w heat pad. I mean it is functional but my guess it was a water/food spill what cased leather damage.
Visited a local upholstery shop - they will fix cracks for $$$ but I don’t think they will address a root cause. Who knows what is going on under the leather cover….

Anyway, if I take same seat from a different donor same year/model and swap it will it work? In other words is it a plug and play swap or programming will be needed?

Thanks

Should be plug 'n play. When I got my wife her '01 V70 X/C the driver's seat was trashed: destroyed leather, heated-seat did not work, mega slow to adjust. Got a quote from a local upholsterer that was WAY more than I was willing to spend. I went to a local pick-n-pull and found a much nicer (though different color) seat from a same-year V70 and it was plug n play, heated seat worked, power tilt/adjustment worked just fine. That was about 2 years ago, and the seat is still working just fine.
