1999 V70 XC repair/shop manual

Post by HiddenCows »

I have spent over a hour trying to find a manual to buy or even a pdf of a shop/repair manual, please give a recommendation of where/publishers/price.
This is for a relic with 29k actual miles on her, also I need a recommendation of leather care.

I swear by the UK Haynes S/V/C70 manual. It has descriptive procedures, pictures, torque specs, etc. I use mine constantly.

All Data DIY offers online shop manual by subscription. They may have more complete info than Haynes, but it's written for technicians in short, abbreviated language. It also has things shops need like estimated repair times and it may have part numbers. I tried it for a month and was not impressed compared to Haynes.

VIDA is the official Volvo diagnostic computer which can provide detailed info about the cars sensors. I think it has repair procedures stored in it. Buying a laptop with the (bootleg) software preinstalled costs about $400. There's a subforum on this site dedicated to it.

The forums are a great resource for DIY information with clear pictures, detailed explanation, and helpful tricks which no other source tells you. volvoxc.com may have more specific information about your XC.

For part diagrams, I recommend VolvoPartsWebStore and usparts.volvocars.com. Their official diagrams and part numbers are a valuable resource to see how things fit together. VPWS is a great source for parts which are too obscure for FCP, IPD, eEuroparts, etc to carry and they offer a discount (though with expensive shipping). volvocars.com can also get you obscure parts with the bonus that you may be able to pick them up at your local Volvo dealership without paying shipping AND getting 10% off automatically.

Good luck with your low mileage XC70.

Other than Volvo Vida, there is no manuals I have come across that cover the AWD variants of the P80 chassis models. Even Vida has some holes in it as I found working on my V70R AWD, especially the rear suspension and driveline.

Most of the front end and bodywork are the same between AWD and FWD cars though.

Alldata does have XC specific information, probably the same holes Scot850 refers to as it uses VIDA as it’s source

I’m a big fan of Alldata as I have 6 cars spread out on four locations so if I have my phone, I have my manual

Well, all good things come to an end , except for love.

Wrote alldata an email why they are losing my business

New pricing model is $40 per year, instead of $7

The killer is this

“ 2 access points for you to use on your desktop and mobile device”

With 6 cars spread over three states, a manual I can’t access remotely is worthless.
