I think they ran this one before, might have been a no-sale.

Interior is not wearing its age well, and the cluster has many festive lights lit, but it runs and drives.
Not getting much love at the moment.
Converter scrappers seem to be bidding up everything in DC to $425, so I guess that's the new low,

Yeah, that’s sadly headed for the scrappers…another 5 speed lost, it makes me sad every time I toast bread

Agreed, what a shame. I always liked the C70 hard top coupe, but was too tall to fit in them. They are not common up here, the soft-tops are, but manuals are very rare in any form.

It's back, once again tempting me to buy it, strip out its manual and other useful parts, then scrap it. But it seems like I missed it again. Or was it again a no-sale, thus available for me to buy?

"Fortune favors the prepared." I'm curious to know how to bid, purchase, and take delivery of a car from these auctions. Also, how to scrap a totally stripped car (no transmission, thus no wheels) minimizing my expense of paying a tow truck to haul it away.

You come and strip the transmission in my driveway, and we haul it to my guy, 10 minutes away on back wheels only.

(you still have front wheels after you pull either a AT or MT car)

The listing goes away after the hammer falls, deal or not, and I forgot to make a low-ball bid as a placeholder ( it would show up in the 'my bids' folder as bare text with a thumbnail ).
Signing up with these folks is pretty straightforward,
https://www.capitalautoauction.com/

I've never checked the other locations to see if the fee structure differs,
https://www.capitalautoauction.com/auctions/1/fees
Plus a credit card convenience fee, avoided by jumping through a hoop or two.

They used to do live auctions, but only online now; typical proxy-bid stuff, you can watch it live though.
Don't believe the 'shipping available' line, even though there's a quote box in the template on each page. As others have pointed out, this is a sport best played locally; if it's a must-have treasure, then the usual shipping arrangements have to be made on your own.
Once the bill is paid, they email the gate pass for whoever will show up to claim the prize; they overnight FedEx the title and sale paperwork, including the dealer reassignment.
I've never bought from any of the remote stations, only the DC operation, and an old friend REALLY loves road trips, so he goes into town and delivers to my back yard for lunch money.
Some years ago I bought a couple cars, might have just been luck, but they both turned out to be tolerable projects.

I didn’t know this. Without shipping, these things won’t work for me. I thought that box was reputable…

It's only a case of (eg) ; the quote box in the template gets shunted off to https://www.haulmatch.com/ , so you're at the mercy of the Have-Trailer-Will-Tow crowd.
In the DC market, the rumor is they do a private deal with some of the tow companies bringing the charity donations to their yards, but there is a mileage limit - and in my case, they don't cross the Chesapeake.

Firefox - one problem foggy and I have noticed with the DC auctions is that you are bdding against local scrappers who have no pickup costs - they can load up 10 cars on a two level flat bed for cheap.

You rarely get anything under $1500 here once you have added in price, fees, shipping/dragging. $2000 is a better estimate.

The Tribe members near the remote outposts in Philly and Manchester would probably have better luck getting a bargain; mostly I try to post cars with a bit of special glow about them - manuals, T5s, and the odd V8 or R.
On some occasions if a clean one presents, exhibiting all the character of a low-mileage jewel, it gets mentioned.
A while ago they had one they claimed an 'actual' odo north of 400k. I didn't clog up the board with that one.
