850 Central locking reverse switch

Post by manovlov »

Hy Buddies,
I hope you're all fine. I have a question.
I wold like to install a switch on the central locking wiring that could allow me to shut down all door, after starting to drive. I would like to install it on the right side of the steering wheel as shown on the board below.

Can someone advise me on :
  • what kind on switch may i use,
  • do i need to go across a rely and then, which sort,
  • where plug the power on to, on the wiring,
    • what should i do to be able to close or open the door from this switch ?
Thanks for advises

Hello Manovlov,
I think you may need to explain what you want to do. Do you want to make a master door lock and unlock switch to control all the door locks?
I assume you want a more secure central locking system.

Does your car not already have a master switch for all the door locks? Maybe in some markets they didn't get them?

Hello volvolugnut, what's Up ?

My car as a central locking system. But if i want to feel secure, a have to push the door driver side pin to close all doors while driving.

I would like to have a button that could allow me to close or open the door without pushing the door pin with the arm.

Salut Neil,
Same answer that volvolugnut. On the Audi A2 of Miss Manov, 10 seconds after starting to drive, all doors close by themselves automatically. I don't want such a level of perfection, a simple double push button would please me...

Since your car should be pre CAN bus, I would think you could directly connect to the switch in the drivers door that actuates all of the other doors. Some testing should reveal if you need power on or off to lock the other doors. Then add a switch in the dash as needed. Get power if needed to the new switch from something that is only on when the key is on.

Others may have other ideas.

Good day,

Been too long since I owned an 850. So there is no master door switch on cars with central locking like on P80 V/S/C70's?

I am fairly certain the 850's had a electric window over-ride button, but again can't see it on an of the pictures I can see. I thought that one was part of the window switches in the center column.

A locking switch is an OEM item.
Per the owner’s manual, it’s just
to the left of the steering column
on US spec 850’s.
