P80 Tailgate inner trim panel clips

Post by scot850 »

Having just done the repair on another tailgate inner trim panel mounts, I used up my last stock of new/good used clips.

Part numbers:

Upper x 4 clips just below the tailgate window - Part # 9145885

Lower x 4 clips along lower edge - Part # 9132876

What had me amazed is the price of these flimsy clips that just love to break. The lower clip is used in other parts of the P80 including the panels around the tailgate aperture and those nearly always have some break.

The price of these clips from Volvo dealers is nuts and even aftermarket knock offs are asking $3 US each or more + shipping!!

I recall buying the lower clips many years ago from a company in Ireland but could no longer find them. I did though find a UK company that sells them for a much more reasonable price. As shipping was the same no matter how many I bought I opted to buy the 100 off option for 13 UK pounds and shipping was 10 UK pounds which works out around $32 US or 32c each!!

They also carry trim clips for other Volvo models and other brands but unfortunately not the upper clip!

Here is the link to the supplier web-page:

Also, if you are in Canada, you can be happy that the Canadian online Volvo OE part dealerships like Volvo of Toronto sell the upper clip for $3.55 + tax + free shipping on all orders. For once that is cheaper than US dealers!!

Neil.

Hope this helps!

I bought one from Volvo but it does not include the clips as I found out. Having said that, the cost for me to buy from the US for the item is not bad but the shipping is often 2-3 times more than the item price. I used to buy my Volvo OE parts from the US but now they are the same or higher price than from the online dealer suppliers in Canada and with free shipping.

If I were to buy something large enough there is a saving buying from the US then this is the type of kit I would include as the shipping cost then is almost zero.
