440 remote keyless entry programming
440 remote keyless entry programming
I've recently bought a 440 which came with a remote that wasn't working. Simple I thought, batteries. One new pair of batteries later, still no joy. A quick purchase on Ebay told me all I needed to do... or so I thought. Unfortunately all the instructions given only work if you have a keyfob that's already coded to the car. Does anyone out there know how to code a keyfob without an existing coded one? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks Bill, it's a 1994 2 litre GLT. The instructions start:
1. In the under bonnet diagnostic socket, connect fly lead to terminal 1, lock and unlock the vehicle using existing remote
2. Switch ignition on
3. Press test button on the diagnostic socket 4 times, LED illuminates
However the LED doesn't illuminate (probably as I'm unable to use the existing remote in step 1).

Adam,
Hope it sorts the problem.

Bill.
I don't know how much further your instructions go but this tells you what to do if none of the remotes operate. Sorry about the blurring, but the ink wasn't quite dry when I scanned it.The instructions start:

The way I read it is that the diagnostic equipment is what you have been using (Fig. 1). Follow the instructions under the 'NOTE'.
I don't have much experience of 440s so I may be wrong. I hope not.
