When there is heavy rain, I get a pool of water in the rear left passenger side of my XC70.

And even when it's not raining, I hear water sloshing around either in the bottom of the door or the pillar between front and back.

No, I don't have a sunroof on my car.

Can anyone advise where to start looking for the cause, and how to fix this?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

There is a sealing piece of plastic in the door that has to be intact. Water runs down the glass into the Dorr, the plastic directs it to the drain holes so it doesn’t accumulate. The drain holes must be open , of course

....also...roll the window up!

Water in the B-post would be very very curious, and there should be body drains for those cavities. Verify that it's in the door, open it and shake it back and forth.
