1995 850 Turbo wagon trip computer

Post by uncle1al »

My trip computer is not working, Over the past few weeks it worked but would blank out for a short period then start working again. Then a few days ago while driving it started flashing and then nothing. I've tried a new info switch, no help. I've tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting, no help. Tried disconnecting the battery and putting the plus terminal to the negative cable overnight, suggested by one message I found online. Didn't help. When I reconnect the battery terminals the trip computer lights up with info, the low temp red light, but then blanks out with just the clock showing.
I'm at a loss as what the problem can be.

It's possibly an internal short or a power supply issue from the instrument cluster.

The one in my wife's '97 GLT kept resetting on her. We replaced the cluster and the problems went away.
'97 854 T5 - Manual Swap/M4.4/COP/NA cams/P2R Brakes/16T/ chassis bracing/ XC70 nose swap
'97 855 GLT - Hers. RN swap/16T/COP/VVT/exhaust/302s/Flashed M4.4/ chassis bracing/ 2 kid seats
'78 GLE - Waiting in the wings. Future whiteblock/T5 swap.

The Others- '83 TBird turbo, '85 Mercury Marquis LTS (1 of 134), '86 LTD Wagon, '81 Granada GL, '76 Beetle, '93 F-150 I6
