how, where to source used body parts - 02 V70 front end

Post by HawkeyeMatt »

Hello all, Our beloved 02 V70 recently crossed 250K miles with lots of love and care ...

... only to be hit on the past Sunday morning by some @$sh0le who did not stop after he ran a red light at 50 and scraped off the front bumper facing and headlight. My wife who was driving was not hurt, and we don't think there was mechanical/structural damage as we wait to hear more.

The local auto body shops are swamped and tell us it's hard to find the replacement parts. I see a lot of the V70s around us here in CT and I'm sure there are retired ones sitting in junk yards somewhere ...

Where do we find used part sellers and "parts cars" in scrapyards and car lots to fit the 02 V70?

Please help!! Thank you -- Matt, new forum member and first-time poster in New Haven, CT

You can try this website. You can search by distance from your zip code:

https://www.car-part.com

Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot more front-end totals in the junk yards vs rear-end totals, making your search a bit more difficult. Hopefully the other driver, or their insurance company, are footing the bill for the fix. All those parts are going to add up to a healthy sum, even if purchased used.

If you don't mind the drive , Hollands salvage is close to the junction of 495 and 93 outside Boston. Pic n pull.
They usually have plenty of volvo.
Whilst there snip a bunch of plugs from any sensor you can reach.
Grab all the fuses too.

I can get parts from Erie to via the MVS Milgram ship program. It’s just a pay it forward.

I drive from Albany to Long Island via the ferry every week but you could meet me in Bridgeport to transfer

Hey, Just wanted to thank all of you who provided input and update you.

We got the Volvo parts and repairs done so the front end is as good as ever (minus those little wipers that never have worked for the 13 years we've owned the car). $950 for the used parts, $950 for the body work, total. Shouts out to Chad at Pinkeys Auto Body in Milwaukee Wi who shipped me most of the parts and to Cerrito's in Wallingford who did the repair work beautifully for a reasonable price.

See the photo below for the current repaired state.

We're having other issues with her now - to be expected - but it was great to learn some new ways that with time and effort you can keep a solid old car running well!
