S60 Weak Engine Performance

Let’s talk S60 Weak Engine Performance

Hello, I own a 2003 S60 the engine perfomance is very weak and I have three messages coming on in the message board one of the them is service engine the other is Reduced engine performance, I forgot what the last one was. I have changed the oil in it but the engine power is still weak, I guess its because I have always driven American V8’s therefore the smaller engine has not impressed me but I did buy it for the better gas mileage. Some feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Bonus! More About The Volvo S60

The Volvo S60 is a compact luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by Volvo since 2000 and is now in its third generation.

The first generation (2000–2009) was launched in autumn of 2000 in order to replace the S70 and was based on the P2 platform. It had a similar designed estate version called Volvo V70 and a sports version called S60 R. Styling cues were taken from the ECC concept car and the S80.

The second generation (2010–2018) was released in 2010 for the 2011 model year and has its own estate version, known as the Volvo V60. The third generation joined the Volvo line-up in 2018 for the 2019 model year. It is built on a shortened version of the Scalable Product Architecture platform, in America’s first Volvo factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina. The U.S. became the sole global source of the S60 sedan after production in China was phased out in early 2019.

2003 s60 with 111,000mi tuned up…at almost any speed if i try to pass or merge it will miss or feel like lack of fuel or power. …there is no fuel smell or knocking in engine. …doesn’t feel like the transmission….the turbo is ok i guess. …this is my 10th Volvo any ideas?

Ok.. hose coming from across the top of engine down through intake manifold… It is broken. Could be the cause of sluggish performance? How is it replaced

Well first of all, an s60 is a verry strong running car it would beat a mustang any day your turbo must need to be replaced.

Sagebrush says:

I changed the spark plugs at 65000 miles and it helped the power quite a bit. It no longer seems to fall on its face when I push the gas.

I have a 2001 s60 with 170,000 miles on it. the same thing happened to me about 6 months ago. I had to get my ignition coils replaced. there is propbably only one that is bad but if one goes bad the others will most likely soon follow. It can damage your catalytic converter if you wait too long. Good Luck!!
