My mind did a full hard reset when I saw it. What blew my mind? A “240” tattoo. You can find this Volvo 240 tattoo adorning the leg of the wonderful Amy L, who lives on the East Coast of the U.S.
There is much confusion out there on exactly which font Volvo used for the 200, 700 and 900 series cars. Most likely the badge designs were simply “by hand” one-off sketch/transfer/cut efforts by graphic designers at Volvo HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden, and no “font” was used.
If you find a font that is close, it probably appeared sometime after these Volvo RWD models and their badges. If I had to pick one to emulate this style, I’d look for Volvo Novum Bold.
Whatever the case, Amy’s tattoo is proof that tattoos do not need to be big or complex to be awesome. I have several simple ones, albeit no Volvo tats.
Now… where would an 850 tattoo look good on me?
