It turned out to be, if memory serves, a bad electrical connection behind the dash -- a shorted wire or unseated bulb. Have you given it to the dealer for a week or month, so that he can experience the problem? Keep in mind I'm not a mechanic, and have no formal Volvo training, or innate ability to diagnose problems. By the way, isn't it worth the money to get out of this car and into something else? If it's degrading your enjoyment of life, trade it to the dealer. Life's too short. -- just my $.02
