i have this exact same problem. exactly. however mine was on a 95 940. what u need to do Jim is manually unhook the fuel pump. then the electrical wires next to the fuel pump you need to check for a short. now after the fuel pump taken off, replace it with a new one for about 200 dollars and your good as new. that was what i did and i never has another problem until i crashed the car after tripping on some acid and cough syrup. did u know cough syrup as dissociativ properties? anyone else have something to say? tell me because i think it is the short in the curcuit of the fuel pump. i hope this was helpful. im sorry for mentioning the drugs because now u wont believe me, but its true. please reply and tell me if it worked. good luck witht he volvo.
