Check the hall effect sensor on the distributor. (on the back of the head, in the 6:00 position ) This sensor sends a signal to the ignition. Sometimes the sensor gets heat soaked and fails, causing the exact problem you describe. When you try and start, does the tach move at all? even at the slow speeds the starter turns the motor over, the tach should at least bump off it's stop. If not, there isn't any signal being sent to the computer to tell the ignition to fire.
