A Volvo survey revealed an average turbo life of about 125 K. That included people who blew turbos at 35k and those with original turbo at 250k miles. My friend who races cars told me use Mobil 1 every 3500 to 4000 miles and after any highway driving let the turbo cool down (my 30 mile run to work I let it chill for 3 to 4 minutes. Driving from DC to Cape Hatteras I give it a 10 minute idle before I turn it off. Twice however I forgot I left it running and like 2 hours later I remembered and turned it off. Not good for the car I'm sure. Also as the man said... flush the coolant!...and use no additives!
