When I read your e-mail I cringed. I recently had a noise in the back of my '91 740 Turb car which sounded like a loud humming noise. Come to find out it was the rear differential (sp?). I'm told this will cost me $3,900!! I was running my car dry with no oil in that area. I don't know how this happened as I never saw oil leaking in the rear. Hope this helps! Get your car to the shop fast!
