Re: leaking front struts on 1998 S90
Thanks for the tip on eBay. Too bad these started to leak right after they were discontinued. Any chance they'll start making these again or am I stuck with salvage yards if no luck on eBay? Also, thanks for the recommendation to do the sway bar links at the same time. That photo was from the passe...

Re: 96 960 sedan Struts and shocks
I did a LOT of research to find the P/N I needed for shocks and struts. Also I shopped for the rest of the suspension components. Unable to find the genuine Volvo struts. Very difficult to find quality brand parts. You will find shocks that won't fit 9 series with IRS. What 9 series does have IRS? A...

Re: bad control arm bushings - replace entire arm or just bushings
I thought about changing the bushings but don't have a press. I have used after market (rockauto, etc) control arms with success. Gets you a new ball joint as well. I don't drive the cars too hard but our roads (Maryland east coast) are not in great shape either. Two 1998 x70s turbos with 200K plus ...

Re: overheated 1998 S90, potential damage?
The 2.9L six cylinder is a long head. The longer the head the more prone it is to warpage. That one of the reasons they invented the V8. Two short 4 cylinder heads are less prone to warpage.
Compression test and do the chemical test for exhaust gases in the coolant.

23 years of heat and pressure cycles is pretty good plastic radiator life.

Re: which coolant to use
Depending on how long ago the flush happened, maybe it just burped ? If that could be the case - especially where you are - just add a touch of distilled water, and monitor it for a bit.

+1 Don't waste money on coolant yet just in case it's consuming it. FL this time of year is mild so no worries. Can always do another flush but would be adviseable to check with the mechanic as you shouldn't mix some coolants.

Re: which coolant to use
Thanks for the feedback and idea of just adding some distilled water. I suppose if the 50/50 mix is good for most climates then 51/49 will probably work fine in Florida. It's been cold here lately - low 40's to high 30's. Rarely does it get down to the low 30's. After driving a short distance, the ...
