I don’t think you have enough clearance to get the transmission shaft off the flywheel in place

Re: Corrupt CEM Non Start Investigation and Repair Tutorial
And I thought I had electrical issues! I got frustrated just reading this post. All this nonsense to stop someone from stealing a car? Why not just remove the fuel injection fuse instead? Replace it with a bad fuse so there isn’t an empty space, if anyone thinks a thief might check the fuse panel. T...

Re: 1998 v70 is it possible to remove rear axles permanently ?
The knuckles are completely different. Removing the driveshaft (fore aft) on the first Gen AWD system (1998-2000) will not disable ABS. There are no electronics on the first Gen system. I’m 97% sure the axle shafts don’t hold the bearings in place on the AWD cars, so I think you can remove them and ...

Re: 1998 v70 is it possible to remove rear axles permanently ?
Looks like you are in Boston area(rust). Please consider that bearing can be rusted to the knuckle to the point that it needs lots of force to get it out. On my old 98v70xc it was so bad that slidding hammer, lots of banging with the mallet did nothing. Can only compare to subaru bearing nightmare. ...

I think removing the bolts from the axle shaft CV joints, two big rubber stoppers to keep the diff clean, and you are good to go.

Re: 1998 v70 is it possible to remove rear axles permanently ?
Do the delta link swap to make the car permanently FWD. Saves a few hundred lbs, deletes all the NLA AWD crap, boost mileage, makes for easy manual swaps, etc. Solves so many issues and is doable in a couple days with a same-year FWD parts car and some wrenching skills. Easily the best thing I've do...

Re: 98 V70 trailer: I am back!
On Monday, I am going to order a new tripod for my bridge camera. I won't bother filming the removal of the basic parts. I will film the engine/trans disconnect/removal process. Then I will film tearing down the engine. It has ~277k miles. Obviously all of this will take a while, not including editi...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
fail. Not only that but the price of replacement can quickly total a car with the stupid high prices of parts. These guys all use the same fallacy that repairs to a car should be capped at its retail value. A meticulously maintained car like one of Dirks , with new FCP parts that are free moving fo...
