Re: 1998 V70 Timing belt, cylinder head work 330k miles!
So, my question is do the valve seals need to be installed before beginning the lapping process? No. If you are changing the valve guides those should be changed first but the seals don't make any difference on the valve angle through the head. Re: Intermittent low knocking from engine bay, heard when hot and at idle - s70 NA Manual
We have to fight this battle together . Water pump was probably not changed because it was not leaking . Time has caught up with it. Check it before you lose your DIY project to a head rebuild due to bent valves caused by a locked up water pump .

AC compressor clutch. Try cycling AC button when noise is prese[not to see \if it changes
YOur harmonic balancer or crankshaft pulley could be loose. You can usually track down a noise to wtin a cm or so using a hose as a stethoscope
The sound does remind me of my bad AC clutch

Re: Intermittent low knocking from engine bay, heard when hot and at idle - s70 NA Manual
I completely forgot about the freewheeling pulley That came on in the 1999 models and the SERP belt route changes ( the alternator spins backwards relative to the rest of the cars this Forum) I have the splinedtool to remove the pulley, that sucker is on really tight and is a left hand thread. The h...
