Re: Broken bolt head leads to Broken Extractor Bit
I have a funny feeling that I had to do the same as you at one time and remove the rear place complete to get the engine pad off as the bolts wouldn't move. Good then get heat on it and shock it loose. The dissimilar metals Volvo loves to use is often a pain due to road salt helping them meld togeth...

Re: Broken bolt head leads to Broken Extractor Bit
If you take off the lower timing belt cover , which is an M8 bolt with a 10 mm hex head, you should be able to get to that bolt at the front of car, left side of engine

Re: Broken bolt head leads to Broken Extractor Bit
No red or white hot heat needed. Just get 30 seconds of propane heat on the bolt head. Use wood to deflect the flame ftom plastic stuff

Re: Broken bolt head leads to Broken Extractor Bit
And just to confirm, on a 99 S70, that pipe by the crank pulley IS the fuel line from the tank!! I was at PnP today and there was a 99 S70 NA there. As it was up on stands it was easy to follow the pipe back. It rises up and meets a chromed cone. The is the fuel pipe disconnect to the fuel tank in t...

Re: Broken bolt head leads to Broken Extractor Bit
If there is any load on the bracket from the engine it will make the threads bind. Because of the different metals of the bolts and the block, they may have corrodes/fused. Localised heat as abscate suggests may be the way forward, but my note on that line is it is the fuel line. Strangely heat and ...
