Re: Finding generic parts like vacuum lines and clamps

I've found manufacturer catalogs to be very helpful in finding the generic parts. Oetiker is here: https://www.oetiker.com/-/media/Files/Oetiker/Downloads/Public/Product-Catalog/Oetiker_Product-Catalog_EN.ashx Gates is here: https://www.gates.com/content/dam/gates/home/knowledge-center/resource-libr...

Re: P80 850 rear bumper bracket bolts (982831, M10x130mm)

This was a gnarly fight. The basic technique was hot/cold cycling with liberal application of CRC Freeze Off after every heating.. I used a pneumatic die grinder with a really crappy harbor freight grinding point that's terrible for actual grinding, but pretty good at heating up the bolt it's applie...

My NOCO Genius GB40 is undefeated. Never tried to clear a flooded engine at -20, though.

Re: Can the ECU detect low oil 1998 v70 ?

I've never had to mess with the crankshaft sensor, but I believe it's just a coil which is excited by a chunk of ...

Re: 850 Rear Brake Repair - AGAIN - Tips

A lot of this information on restoring vintage Porsche calipers probably applies to Volvo ones: https://pmbperformance.com/pages/the-ultimate-brake-caliper-restoration-guide This shop has them zinc plated, as Porsche did from the factory. It should be noted that zinc electroplating is different from...

Re: 850 Rear Brake Repair - AGAIN - Tips

My caliper rust problem has been solved as my 6th car in my fleet becomes the latest to ride the FreeCP train of free replacement parts. The Centric calipers seem to be lasting 5 years plus on my P80s, but once they seize they get a trip to Milford for new ones. I keep a new set on my shelves so I ...

Re: water pump nightmare scenario

At the beginning I decided to scour youtube to see if there were any super clever tricks that I didn't know about. It turns out that there were. I would have had to borrow a wirefeed welder and I'm not sure if I could have done it in place because it's pretty close quarters. It was more likely I wou...

Re: 1999 S70 GLT winter car aquistion

The key identifier for lawnmower syndrome is the complete lack of compression while cranking. The last time it happened to me it took about 10 minutes of cranking to get it to go. If it happens again I'll pull the spark plugs and squirt a little oil in the cylinders.
