Volvo Polar Bear
Unsure where to post this but as it's for my 850 I thought here would be an appropriate place. I found a genuine Volvo Polar Bear for sale and decided to purchase it to go into the 850 at car shows, I've never seen one before and wondered if anyone here knows when they were sold by Volvo Polar1.jpg ...

Re: Right side outer CV joint issue
IDK, I'd probably repack it unless I could feel appreciable slop in the outer CV. You can't go back once you move to aftermarket axles, and the downhill slope is steep.

Re: Right side outer CV joint issue
Unless the boot has been split for a long time and all grease has gone, I would also suggest to replace the outer boot only with a GKN Lobro one. As Erik has mentioned, proviso is there is limited play in the joint.

Re: Right side outer CV joint issue
No play that I can feel, but that might not mean much, since I can't duplicate the stress that it under goes when I whip through round-abouts at speed. But no clicking / knocking noise either. Maybe I can get away with a boot. . You should definitely try a new boot. If you can't get to it in a time...

Re: Right side outer CV joint issue
I agree about giving it a try with a new boot. The axle boots on my 1997 have split three times over the years and they're still working well... I clean them out, repack with grease and put a new GKN boot on.

Re: remove turn signal lens assembly
This is an old thread, but I'm responding so I can find these instructions when I break the other turn signal assembly. I purchased a Dorman replacement for my 2000 V70XC, which Amazon delivered in about 24 hrs(!!). When pushed in correctly, this fit perfectly - tight, with all the right connectors....

Re: Right side outer CV joint issue
Maybe this helps a bit: A) if the inner is not shredded, and you don’t want to deal immediately, you can run a while with saran wrap and zip ties to keep it from flinging grease. Sounds ghetto, but honestly it works. B) If the inner is NOT trilobal on the can (the can is smooth all the way around, n...

Re: Right side outer CV joint issue
So FCP has the GKN axles and these guys are OEM axle shaft suppliers for Volvo and other makes, but they are eye wateringly expensive $395'ish. That's a lot of shekels! IPD has axles from Protech with great reviews for $175. They've been in the business for more than 20 years and are based in Street...
