Re: 850 T5 Engine mounting / placement
Nice view!!!
Gap between the transmission gearbox and the rubber pad is definitely larger than I am used to seeing. But maybe your hydraulic engine mounts are probably in good shape. When the gearbox hits the pad, it is a sign the hydraulic mount(s) is/are shot.

Re: 850 T5 Engine mounting / placement
Check the front engine mount, the hydraulic mounts, and the subframe mounts. Look for asymmetry in the subframe mounts especially since that will pitch the engine to one side.

Re: Engine comparison 2.3T vs 2.5T
So we call that the 2.4 low pressure turbo here in the US. The 2.5T is the later low pressure turbo used in the s60 etc. The biggest difference between your current engine and the original engine is slightly higher compression 9.6 vs 8.5 IIRC, and slightly larger pistons 81mm vs 83mm IIRC. Someone p...

Re: Engine comparison 2.3T vs 2.5T
It is possible an LPT motor was swapped in at some point in the car's history. The compression difference, (9:1 vs 8.5:1) isn't all that much, and as stated, it would probably run mostly OK on the T5-R ECU. However...Looking at that "SAM" sticker on the ECU and a quick Google shows that *m...

Re: Volvo 850 T5 - Old chiptuning (SAM)
I have never heard of them, even when living in the UK 20+ years ago. One of my brothers lives in Sweden and had Volvos. He was a mechanic and knew some of the Volvo guys there. I will ask him if he has heard of this company. All I can find is a Russian guy complaining he was charged tax on parts he...

Re: Volvo 850 T5 - Old chiptuning (SAM)
SAM / Steffanson Automotive was the company assigned to build the first 855 racecar prototype. Rumor has it that when they arrived at the Volvo factory to pick up the car to be prepared only a wagon body was on hand and because of limited time they took that. I doubt this to be true, but SAM built a...

Re: Eliminate fuel cut T5
I am by no means a tuning expert, or even a novice. But the stock ECU is expecting stock injectors and a stock turbo running stock boost. It can probably compensate for slightly higher boost pressures but without a tune or a way to monitor AFR, it's hard to say if it will be safe. My experience is l...

Re: Eliminate fuel cut T5
As far as fuel cut goes, I never had it, and my '97 850 boosted up to ~17psi. I had swapped injectors though... I can't remember if I experienced fuel cut before the different injectors.
