Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Stage 0 on this 204k mile new-to-me, slightly O'Reilly'd and Auto Zoned up Texas 855R. That'll be a satisfying paint restoration! Somebody posted on here recently about bringing tomato soup red paint back to original beauty and it was nothing short of spectacular. Volvo 850 Red Paint Restoration. B...

jonslave wrote: 12 May 2020, 19:20 I heard these cars didn't have a clear on them. Is that true? There isn't any peeling which you would expect.
Correct, 601 red is single stage. A compound job with M105 or similar will clear that paint right up.

Re: How do my Delta Link Bushings look to you?

The rubber looks a little old, but they appear to actually be in one piece.

Unless they are broken, or your in replacing the outer link bushings, I would just leave them.

Re: Volvo 850R Timing Belt Question

Cams always move when I do this job, well the exhaust cam does. Your suspicions are correct, there's no way that is on the crank mark, that's too far out for it to run well. Keep looking; are you sure it's not there when the cam sprockets are lined up with the tick marks? Also there is a tick mark o...

Re: Volvo 850R Timing Belt Question

After you align the cams, you indeed have to remove and recompress the hydraulic tensioner and lock it with the pin before you can reassemble. Compress the tensioner slowly as per usual. If you can't find the pin, people often use a very small Allen key as a substitute.

Re: Volvo Hood Latches

There are lots of posts regarding failsafes for getting hoods open with failures. Have a search, you'll find a good number of options. Hood-pins can be installed on any vehicle though, and the slam panel would be perfect for a mounting location. Or one could easily fab a small bracket from the littl...

Re: Best 98-00 S70 Dash Carpet Cover

I have personally never seen one that looks good or fits properly. My suggestion, if you already have cracks and damage, would be to remove the dash pad. Then repair the cracks or damage with some filler, before flocking it. Flock (i) looks cool, (ii) isn't as good an insulator as plastic or vinyl s...
