Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

Sorry I haven't been on here to update in awhile. My fiance ended up coming home on the 16th. Her kidney function went back to normal, thankfully, but they're still keeping an eye on everything. She now has a home health nurse that comes out twice a week to check on how she's doing, plus a physical ...

Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

It's been awhile since I've posted, so here's an update on my condition... I've been bedridden for the last two months, with little movement out of bed. What I didn't realize was how bad that was going to be for me. Everything hurts more now than it did to begin with, and my muscles have atrophied q...

Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

I can stand, even though my knees won't allow my legs to fully straighten up. I also walked for the first time today, with the help of my walker. I thought I'd take a few steps and that's all I'd be able to do and ended up walking (waddling) around the house for awhile. I'm sore, and worn out, but I...

Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

Went back to the Ortho on Tuesday, this time walking with the use of my walker. I probably walked half of a mile during the day, which made me extremely sore on Wednesday. It was a nice feeling to be complemented by everyone that was surprised by how well I'm doing. The last time I went, in December...

Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

Keep moving and improving! volvolugnut That I plan on. I'm still hurting from walking so much on Tuesday. That's the most I've walked in a single day since before my injury. I tend to push myself too hard, too fast, and then it takes a couple of days to recover. I get excited being able to do more ...

Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

Got my car up and running again on Monday, and have driven it both Monday and Tuesday this week. Still have limited range of motion in my knees, but I'm able to drive with both feet (thankfully it's an automatic) without any issues. I've been trying to get outside more, and walk as much as I can. I ...

Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

My legs are getting stronger by the day, and I'm able to "walk" a little without any help from anyone/anything. My right ankle still won't bend normally, so I can't get that heel on the floor while standing or walking but I'm still doing what I can. Range of motion in my knees is still abo...

Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

I have my first PT appt coming up on Monday. I'm a little scared about what they might have to do to loosen up my knees to regain full range of motion, but I'm hopeful that whatever they do helps me. I don't care about being in pain afterwards as long as I can still walk and drive enough to get home...

Re: Photography thread

During the 1950's most US trains switched to diesel power. Diesel locomotives were easier to maintain, did not require frequent stops to fill with water, and could go further before refilling. Lumpy coal is also harder to transfer than liquid fuels. New train technology is trying electric power. Th...

Re: Cancer/illnesses, and caregiver, support thread

Walked around the block today. First time I've tried walking that far at one time. I probably could've made a second lap but I didn't want to push it too much. I have PT tomorrow and the day after. Still using my trusty cane, and thankful to have it for stability. Less than three months on my feet, ...
