Best bet is change the thermostat first, burp the system and go from there.

Let the engine get warm at idle and turn on the heater (yes, and don't look at 90F outside). If you get HOT air, then water pump is OK and thermostat is the prime suspect. But not the only.

You stated that one hose is hotter that the other right? That could be a sign that your radiator has hit the end of it's life. Look closer at the two wires going to the coolant temp sensor connector on the stat housing. Or maybe the sensor is shot

If the ECU check finds failed wire or missing connector (an electrical issue), the (DIM) displays an engine related stop warning immediately upon engine start. LIMP HOME is activated for safety.

Yikes. Modern engines with alloys don’t like overheats. You can ease the tension of seeing the gauge or Rex light with a no contact IR temp reader to map out temps in your engine so you can know where things should be

you shouldnt have to adjust it, i swapped my starter and noticed i could pull the gear out easily by hand (worn throw out spring) compared to the used replacement which was very difficult.
