I have been told the smaller steam locomotive on display in my town (a 4-6-2 type), was capable of 100 MPH, used 10,000 gallons of water in 20 to 30 miles, and 16 tons of coal every 100 miles. They're just such crazy complicated fascinating machines. Look at that second photo. Look at the big counterweights on the huge drive wheels. I wonder what one of those wheels weighs....

I do not know the weight of a wheel, but more trivia - locomotive wheels have tires. Here is how to replace the tires:

I went to Swedish Motors in Boulder today to see friends and talk Volvo talk. It was awesome. Here's manager Sophie, who is battling cancer and is a single mom of 3. Much respect to her. Tons of respect.

Today's photo: I previously owned this 1940's Ford Coupe. A couple of the Volvo fleet in the background. And my trailer and a peek at my white Ford truck (through the orange 245).
