Re: The classic ticking
I'm not saying don't change the gaskets/o-rings, but if it is a single lifter having the issue, and the rest is working correctly - do you really think it is an oil pressure issue? There's a write up somewhere, maybe robertdiy, you'll find it if you look around, maybe you won't need it, sounds like...

How I fixed a 1998 v70 driver's side knee panel
When I got my 98 v70xc, the driver's knee panel was missing, with the slot on the dash itself missing the bottom edge. In s/v70 cars, the knee panels are held up by two tabs, which lock into slots in the dashboard, as well as a screw in the center. Thankfully I was able to find an intact panel, in t...

Re: New bougicord wires not correct? And oil filler cap recommendation
As for oil filler cap. The seal needs to be replaced every 2-3 years if you want it to stay leak free. The seal shrinks and goes hard, then it leaks. Cheap aftermarket seal rings. No need to replace the whole cap, but as you have done should be good for a while! Problem might have been cheap seal r...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Anyone going to the FCP Volvo/Saab event this Sunday at Limerock Connecticut? Alas I am in Albany for last weekend clearing old house. Might have saved yourself catching a cold with the rain. Or finding a potential tailgate weather seal leak... Of course as soon as I get home the sun comes out. Lot...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
The thoughtful design and ease of serviceability is incredible compared to literally anything else made since the 90s. I wish the engineers who designed the clips for the interior trim on 850s, the dashboard plastic mounting tabs, and the v70 AWD angle gear weren't most likely retired by now so I c...

Re: The classic ticking
Thought I'd come back and update this with my solution. I bought 20 genuine Volvo lifters off FCP and swapped them in. I pressed down the center "nub" of all my old lifters, and found two that could be pressed down slightly with just finger pressure. One of them was on the exhaust cam on c...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Has anyone taken their plastic rocker covers off recently? I was under the impression that p80+ Volvos were pretty resistant to rusting, despite being ~25 years old. I thought being able to push my hand through the rocker panel on one of my cars was a fluke, but after searching for a good panel to c...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Could someone post a picture of the area to check? What are the rocker panels and what must come off to check them for rust. Because if any car has rust, it's my poor neglected Geronimo. I want to know now before installing the $2000 in parts I've recently purchased for it. 20230703_095829.jpg Ther...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
We could maybe look at starting a thread we can add to for NLA parts for AWD P80's, and or rare/expensive parts that may be worth harvesting? Neil. There was a thread on volvospeed I had seen a while back with excellent info on parts numbers for practically all the unique parts on the rear subframe...
