Re: 1998 V70XC Door Vinyl Removal and Refit Part 2
I can give some maybe helpful info, I did a similar project but used new leather inserts from redline goods. I tried using 3M headliner adhesive, which has a lot of tack, but takes too long to get a good hold when you're trying to keep the leather and foam molded to the door card. For the leather a...

Re: 1998 V70XC Door Vinyl Removal and Refit Part 2
Oh my foam is trashed so I’m using what came from redline. And thanks for the tips. I wouldn’t have thought about doing the inside of the cups then the walls as 2 steps to prevent tension. I’m probably going to use my steamer and steam the leather a little to get the shipping wrinkles out. This is ...

Re: 98 V70 Squealing on the throttle, what in the world?
This ended up being a loose vacuum line for the evap system up by the radiator that was disturbed when we dropped the subframe.

Re: 1997 850 GLT will only start on second try.
I don't want to jinx anything, but it's been reported to me that changing out the ignition for a brand-new Volvo part has fixed this issue.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I had posted about my original 188k mile fuel filter, then forgot I said I would post pictures. 20241021_171600.jpg 20241021_171723.jpg 20241021_172249.jpg As you can see, the media was a little dirty. Almost 2x the recommended change interval. 20241021_215900.jpg Got a little distracted and pulled ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
And now, as most people with an AWD know, the unique parts are no longer made or only available from brands like Uro. But I'm noticing this with more and more parts not just for the AWD. Yesterday I tried to hunt down the source of a leak into my rear tailgate. I think water is getting in through th...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I could pull those seals of Shagg and send them to you, let me know If they are in good condition I'd be happy to buy them as the ones I have dont seems to sealing very well along the top. I've had the roof trim/rail mounting screws leak in the past. The Volvo part is a small piece of one side stic...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
AWD parking brakes are an issue if a) you never use them or service them b) the cables will fail near the pivot point on the rear axle near the springs (held in place with a 10mm headed nut). Done! Neil. I assume the parking brake was never used by the previous owner. The sheath is cracked and cabl...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Ok so I looked further into this. It seems some awd rear caliper brackets leave more room on the outside between the brake rotor. I measured one at 10mm and the other at 11mm after removing rust scale and there's a visible difference after mounting them. My car came with the stamped steel dust cover...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
And you are sure the parking brake cable is not binding? Neil. Yes, I was going to remove the brake shoes to test, but the wheel spins much more freely with the brake pads removed, no rubbing sounds, the rotor comes right off without a struggle, and no evidence of the parking brake shoes getting gl...
